  i could go on and on about my personal journey over the last 2 years or so, but i don't need to.

  everything i needed to hear to finally lay my doubts to rest happened on one meeting night.

  it could only be divine providence.

  I find I am Shunning my family !

  although i really hate the wt/jw shunning policy, which especially huts those who have been df'd, i find i am in a kind of way doing it to my jw family.. i do not include them in anything i do, in my own family gatherings, and i cannot be arsed to inform them of things going on in my family, or to even go and see them, unless really necessary.. this all adds up to a kind of "reverse shunning", and i do feel a twinge of guilt about it, but it is simply how things have become.. do you, fellow faders, find a similar thing happening ?.

  It comes from knowing that anything you say might be held against you in a judicial committee.

  For me, I try to have plenty of other things in mind to talk about that are safe. And I have to admit that my parents are cooperative to also have plenty of nonJW things to talk about. Of course, the subject often drifts around to people at the hall, because that's where their friends and most of our family are. But the conversation drifts away without any significant JW issues coming up. Of course, some of those conversations about the 'friends' at the hall is about some of the stupid stuff that they say and do.

  In talking to some of my friends, they've learned not to talk religion or politics with many of their family members. So I learned their tactics on tongue-biting and subject-changing.

  ok so you had a bad experience and you stopped going to church which ever one that is.

  but did you stop believing or are you that peeved you blame god etc.

  i would encourage you to humble yourself before your messiah and seek him, he will let himself be found by you and come dwells within you.

  That talk at the assembly where...

  ...someone who was disfellowshipped ended up goin to a bar getting into a fight/getting preggo or somethin of the nature and then realized how pitiful their life had become.

  they then 'prayed' to jah and wala the light clicked and they came back and feel better then ever!!.

  I think it's a tactic that every religion uses, and probably even political parties use it. Someone leaves their special group and their life goes to ruin. Repentantly, they come crawling back to the group and are "saved".

  There are plenty of experiences where kids leave the JWs and go on to leave happy and productive lives. Those stories aren't repeated at the JW Discrap Crapventions.

  Jehovah's name used to mean: I am the creator of all things, and I will do whatever is needed to accomplish my purposes.

  New meaning of Jehovah's name: I constantly change. I had been saying one thing, but then I completely become something else whenever my earthly prophets realize that what I'd told them to say was wrong and needs to be totally revised ASAP. And since I just told you that I change all the time, I will now change and tell you, 'I never, ever, ever, never, ever change!'"

  Am I understanding this correctly?

  Noah's Missing Dove, Tower of Babel and Sumer

  i was reading genesis again today - chapter 8 and 9. and here are two additional curiosities i found now that the blinders are off.. 8:12 - apparently noah releases this mischevious explorer dove, who in verse 12, ends up never coming back.

  this raises three questions.

  for one, why would noah have to send out a bird three times to explore for dry land in order to see if it was safe to exit the ark?

  How dare people talk about the Holy Bible as if it's a fictional storybook. It's not like those made-up stories that involve talking animals and magical spirits and mystical food that appears out of nowhere...

  Believing It All EXCEPT...

  i used to think that loyal jws bought into the wt teachings 100%.. that's certainly what the gb wants and expects and demands.. but then i encountered some jws who believe it all except for the opposition to higher education.. they think the gb is wrong about that, so all of the children are college educated.. others seem to believe it all but quietly celebrate family birthdays and various holidays.. these aren't people who are fading; they just ignore a few wt teachings that they don't like (despite the risks of being disciplined).. have you seen similar examples of active jws who are doing all the wt-approved stuff except for specific areas where they just ignore what the gb says is required?.

  I can't help but wonder if one of the effects of the branch closures will be that "mother" becomes farther and farther away, and independent thinking increases. It would become easier to rationalize, "The brothers in Brooklyn (or remote NY compound) don't understand the realities of life in our country. Their advice on dress, marriage, holidays, etc. doesn't really fit in our country."

  you all should be ashamed of your egotistical selves.

  how can you leave god's organization to celebrate the work of satan the devil?

  it just goes to show you how jehovah's christian witnesses are correct about how persons will leave the truth for their own selfish desires.. first off, christmas is a pagan holiday and it proves no spirit with the almighty jehovah and his son, the christ.
